I laugh because I have so many of the same books as you. I have gotten to the point where I am able to identify subject(s) the author(s) did not specialize in. And I code to recreate the figures in books now. I'm not in a phd program, but I should probably get into one since I'm obsessed with this field and the brain.

Hi Charlotte, I have a BSc in physics, and I have experience as a data scientist, and data engineer (around 4 years), at the moment I am doing a MSc in Applied Artificial Intelligence (more focused in industry and I am finishing my first year in the master), but I want to do research in computational neuroscience (yeah, I dream with making investigation about that for the rest of my life xd), but I don't know how or where can I get a Phd or a MSc in computational neuroscience, I have no much money at the moment hahaha, and it is dificult for me to get a debt with the bank to make a master or a Phd, I am from Mexico , have a nice day.

coding all day - got it. But what're you coding? Like can you give an example of what youre doing with the data, what kind of data it is...what is the goal or something. It's quite unclear as to what a computational neuroscientist does.

In Software Engineering, besides programming paradigms and methodologies, I would also highlight Worlds... In the context of software engineering, I discuss an interesting question with my students - what is primary, the Hole or the Bagel body (the algorithm or the code)? Does the Hole generate the Bagel, or does the Bagel body create the Hole, or did the Hole exist before the Bagel body? After that, we move on to discussing two Worlds of software engineering: Algorithm-centric and Code-centric, similar to our understanding of whether the Sun revolves around the Earth or vice versa, the Earth revolves around the Sun. It's very interesting to listen to their reasoning on this topic. In v-agent oriented programming (VAOP), Finite State Machine Programming, and model-driven engineering, we support the Algorithm-centric world with our methodologies, while for many, the Sun continues to revolve around the Earth, and there are no other options. For example, read what representatives of the Code-centric software world write: "The code is the algorithm. The code implements the algorithm. Therefore, the code documents the algorithm automatically." Such zealous Code-centrists burned Giordano Bruno for saying that the Earth is not the center of the Universe, but the Algorithm is. It's best to start familiarizing yourself with VAOP with this article on Medium: "Bagels and Muffins of Programming or How Easy It Is to Convert a Bagel into a Black Hole".

Hi, I wondered if a lot of people go into computational neuroscience research (e.g. BCIs) from doing a CS or AI background, and if it's better to have done something with more maths? I am choosing between CS and Maths, and CS and AI undergraduate degree, but I don't know if the latter usually contains enough of the math needed, and if it's harder to teach yourself on the side. I don't know if good computational neuroscience postgraduate programs prefer you to have done the math in the degree itself?

Coming from a background in psychology, my goal is to pursue a master's or PhD in computational neuroscience, providing me with a broad array of career options. Given my uncertainty about my exact passions, versatility in career paths is crucial to me. Could a degree in computational neuroscience pave the way for opportunities in industry, such as a role as a machine learning engineer or AI engineer?

Thank you for your video; you provided many useful tips. I agree with you that perfection is an obstacle to writing and improving your work. For some reason, it is very common that when you study your bachelor's degree, professors expect assignments with zero mistakes. I think this doesn't respect the natural process of learning. I would also like to add that it is always very challenging for us, non-native English speakers, to write a paper, so we need new strategies for our learning process.
